Headteacher's Welcome

"Raising aspirations and inspiring success"

Welcome to our website - it will give you a taste of what makes Tweedmouth Community Middle School such a great place, where children are taught by excellent teachers, have access to an inspirational curriculum, and where they are challenged to reach their full potential. Please read our curriculum statement here. We want your children to be the very best they can be. Our aim is to be an outstanding school, with our team ensuring that every pupil is motivated and that we offer the leadership and opportunity that will allow individuals to achieve their dreams. Giving all our pupils the very best tools to lead successful lives is what we do. We want our pupils to develop the confidence to step out of their comfort zone and embrace all the opportunities and first-time experiences that will come their way at 'TCMS'.

We have an outstanding pastoral team, who ensure pupils are safe at school, show respect to everyone and everything around them and develop the self-esteem and resilience necessary in their future lives and careers.  Our office team are second to none and provide a wonderful first contact for parents. They will endeavour to answer all your questions, and keep you updated of your child’s progress through our Schoolcomms system – both for when Teacher Commendations are awarded, or for when a quiet word is needed about conduct at school. We have dedicated Learning Support Staff who are highly qualified to give your child the very best support when necessary. Our caretaking staff work tirelessly ensuring a safe, inspiring and engaging environment in school. Our lunchtime staff keep pupils safe, and are a very valuable ‘ear’ if pupils have concerns about anything. We have our own chef at school who has brought creativity to our lunchtime menus - available to view on our school website - and has guided her team effortlessly through accreditation with the Soil Association. We source fresh, organic produce locally where possible so I urge you to give our ever-changing menus a go.

Parental Engagement is essential for your child’s progress. We have very high expectations of all pupils - we want them to be well prepared and equipped every day, come to school with an ‘I can’ attitude, and follow our R.E.S.P.E.C.T. rules. With that in mind, we actively encourage parents to be involved in the day-to-day and longer term direction of school by volunteering as a Governor. If any parents are interested in joining a Parent Group to contribute to school and community life, but cannot commit to Governorship, please do get in contact.

I have painted a very honest picture of TCMS, but you decide. Come to our intake evenings, where you and your child can have a tour of school; meet their future teachers, see what they will be learning, speak to pupils, see for yourself that our school environment is a happy and safe place to learn. When pupils are happy and safe, the learning will happen in abundance.

If you would like to organise a tour of school at any time during the school year, I would be delighted and proud to show you around. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please give me a ring anytime on our office number (01289 307480).

I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into TCMS.

Headteacher's Highlights

Amazing things happen every day at TCMS. These might be part of normal lessons but are equally likely to be as a result of the many additional opportunities we offer all pupils as part of our enrichment curriculum which enhance pupils' experiences in and out of school.

Here are some highlights ...

SCULPTURE COMPETITION

Back in 2022 our Year 5/6 pupils were offered the opportunity to enter a design competition to have their dreams turned to reality. All pupils submitted entries to design a sculpture for Flagstaff Park in Berwick. These were narrowed down and we were thrilled when Poppy's astonishing bee was chosen. Now, in 2024 the wooden sculpture has been created in Newcastle by a group of talented artists working with local young people. Just take a look ...

#STEEL PANS @TCMS!

We work closely with the Northumberland Music Partnership, so when the offer came through for the loan of a full set of STEEL PANS I couldn't type "yes please" quick enough. Here are some pics and videos of what young people can put their mind to when given the chance!
